Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM review. Technical testing revealed slight colour fringing at the shortest focal lengths, which was a disappointment, but in all other respects the results were outstanding. Resolution peaked above 0.4 cycles-per-pixel and the MTF curves never once fell below the critical 0.25 cycles-per-pixel threshold. The bokeh of the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 II is nicer than the Canon 24-70mm f/4 bokeh. The large number of aperture blades of this lens also offers an impressive star diffraction: If you set this lens to e.g. f/8 and you shoot straight into the sun or a starry sky, you will get sun rays with 18 arms.
I was excited by the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM versus the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8 L which I already have, but . The price of the Sony is $2199 while the Canon is $1799; When the Canon was announced back in 2012, it had an MSRP of $2299. Early adopters usually pay the more expensive price to be first.
